We're delighted to announce our application to become a non-profit has been approved.

Why we applied for non-profit status
1. We want the clinic to belong to the community. Our mission is to remove barriers to acupuncture services and improve access to patient care and we want our efforts to last - long after we're gone. By turning over guardianship to a board (and our community) we're giving CASoBu more of a chance to achieve this.

2. We want to offer donation-based ear acupuncture clinics (no one turned away for lack of funds) as often as we can. This is a big one. We still have to pay staff, rent, and all the other expenses associated with a clinic. Now, we can fundraise for this effort. We also hope to offer opportunities for practitioners to volunteer at our free ear clinics. Which leads us to our next reason...

3. We want to support the education and training of ear acupuncture technicians. Let me explain - in the state of Vermont "detox" ear acupuncture is deregulated. This means that anyone, with proper training can administer the simple five point ear treatment protocol known as "NADA" or "Auricular Detox". Ear acupuncture is an effective, easy, and low barrier adjunct to addiction and recovery services and will go a long way in helping Vermonters.

We're already low profit and benefit the public, so it was a no-brainer for us to apply. And we got it!
